We are reaching out to American Legionnaires about an exciting opportunity for you to represent the military and your fellow veterans by speaking to students in your local schools in the lead up to Veterans Day. This is your chance to spend about 15 minutes speaking to students about your military experiences and inspiring the next generation to serve their communities and country.
A National Security resolution recently passed on the importance of raising the status of the military and veterans in society. With this, Ronald Reagan Post 283, under former Post 283 Commander, and current National Security Council member, James Cragg, has started a national initiative to tackle issues addressed in the resultion and to change perception in society.
James’ mandate is to establish the “Alumni Ambassadors” program, a grassroots activation in American Legion posts across America that empowers select American Legion Legionnaires to take a more active role in engaging their communities and to assert more positive veteran images through storytelling and advocacy.
These Alumni Ambassadors will be supported through the initiative with tools and resources that help them get out into their communities and properly and effectively represent the military and veteran experience. Alumni Ambassadors will be given direction, materials, training, and special perks to support their outreach and work in these areas.
